13 Day Dog Sledding Tour to the Three Country Cairn
62000 NOK
per person
Join a 13 day dog sledding expedition from Bardu to Treriksrøysa, travelling through national parks and Arctic winter landscapes in Northern Norway.
General information
This tour is operated by Ursa Minor Adventures.
Join a 13 day dog sledding tour to Treriksrøysa in Indre Troms, where Norway, Sweden and Finland meet. Here you will find the northernmost point of Sweden and the westernmost point of Finland.
Each participant drives their own team of 6–8 Alaskan Huskies and takes part in the daily tasks along the way. The tour is also suitable for beginners, but has an expedition-style character and is designed for those who truly want to experience dog sledding off the beaten track.
The programme begins at Bardu Husky Lodge, where you will spend a full day receiving a thorough introduction to dog sledding and safety.
The dog sledding expedition itself starts at the large lake Altevatn. From here, you travel across the frozen lake and continue northeast. The route crosses large parts of Rohkunborri and Øvre Dividal National Parks, which together form a vast wilderness area in Indre Troms.
Along the way, you travel through a varied winter landscape of high mountains, open plateaus, frozen lakes and Sámi settlements.
As you approach Treriksrøysa in the birch forest near Kilpisjärvi, you are approximately halfway through the journey. The route then takes you back above the treeline before heading south through almost the entire Øvre Dividal National Park.
For large parts of the expedition, the dog teams will have to make their own tracks through the snow. The route and daily programme therefore need to be adapted to the snow and weather conditions along the way.
