General information

This experience is operated by Destination Tromsø.

Spend 24 hours at sea on an Arctic cruise from Tromsø aboard MV Quest, combining an overnight stay with the possibility of seeing the Northern Lights and whale watching in the Arctic fjord landscape.

Stay in a private Double Cabin with sea view and private bathroom, with meals served on board throughout the journey.

Day 1 – an evening beneath the Arctic sky

Your journey begins in the heart of Tromsø, where you will be welcomed on board MV Quest. Settle into your private cabin and meet the expedition team who will accompany you throughout the journey.

As the vessel leaves the harbour, the lights of Tromsø gradually fade into the distance and the Arctic evening opens up around you. A three-course dinner is served on board, while the Panorama Lounge offers a comfortable place to relax and watch the darkness settle outside.

Your guide will introduce you to the stories, science and mystery behind the Northern Lights and prepare you for what may appear in the sky above.

You can then step outside and watch for the Northern Lights from the open deck, surrounded by the stillness of the Arctic night. If the Northern Lights appear while you are asleep, the crew will wake you so that you have the opportunity to go outside and see them.

Day 2 – whale watching in an Arctic fjord

The following morning, wake up in the stillness of a remote Arctic fjord, surrounded by waters where whales gather during the winter feeding season.

You can look for wildlife from the breakfast table, your cabin window or the vessel’s open decks. With a little luck, orcas or humpback whales may pass nearby.

Spending the night at sea gives you more time to observe the wildlife, move between the vessel’s different viewing areas and take in the surrounding fjord landscape from different perspectives.

After a morning among whales and fjords, lunch is served on board. Your guide will also share more about the whales and dolphins found in the region.

Throughout the voyage, the expedition team will take photographs of the journey. The photos will be shared digitally within 48 hours.

As MV Quest sails back to Tromsø, there is time to relax, share the highlights and reflect on the past 24 hours before stepping ashore.
