General information

This tour is operated by Ursa Minor Adventures.

This journey is designed for experienced participants who are ready to take the next step in dog mushing and are looking for a long and challenging expedition through Troms and Finnmark.

The expedition starts at Bardu Husky Lodge and covers more than 1,000 kilometres to Vardø on the Barents Sea. Each participant drives their own dog team of 6–8 Alaskan Huskies.

Along the way, you will travel through a wide variety of landscapes – from the mountains of South Troms, across Troms and the Finnmark Plateau, before continuing towards the tundra and coastal landscapes of the Varanger Peninsula.

The journey takes you through high mountains, taiga and tundra before reaching the windswept beaches and cliffs along the Barents Sea. Towards the end of the expedition, the route follows the coast of the Varanger Peninsula, with views across Varangerfjord and towards Russia.

In Vardø, the expedition ends with a boat trip to Hornøya, one of Norway’s most impressive bird cliffs.
