Afternoon Kayak Tour from Tromsø

This tour is operated by Sommarøy Adventure.

Join the Arctic Route bus for a scenic journey from Tromsø to Sommarøy, a popular destination for kayaking and nature experiences. The bus will drop you off at Sommarøy Arctic Hotel, where you will have some free time before your activity begins.

Make your own way to the activity centre by 14:00 (2:00 PM) for the start of the activity. Please note that there is no guide accompanying you from the bus to the activity centre.

Your guide will help you get ready with equipment and safety instructions before the kayaking tour starts. Together, you will explore quiet bays, white sandy beaches and small islands that are only reachable by kayak or boat.

As you paddle, look out for sea eagles and local wildlife against the backdrop of Sommarøy’s stunning coastal scenery. Midway through the tour, we stop ashore for a break, where your guide will share stories about the island’s fishing heritage, everyday life and wildlife.

The tour is suitable for both beginners and those with previous kayaking experience. Stable double kayaks provide a safe and comfortable experience, while single kayaks may be available for experienced paddlers.

The tour ends back at the activity centre. Afterwards, you will have around 2 hours of free time to enjoy some food at Sommarøy Arctic Hotel and explore the island on your own before returning to Tromsø city centre with the Arctic Route bus.

Good to know:

• Minimum age to participate is 10 years
• This tour is not accessible for wheelchair users
• No previous kayaking experience is needed
• All tours are led by certified local instructors and adjusted to the weather conditions to ensure safety and comfort
• Please let the guide know about any medical conditions or other relevant information before the tour starts
• This tour is weather-dependent and may be rescheduled or cancelled for safety reasons. A full refund will be offered if the tour is cancelled
