Summer in Tromsø is endlessly beautiful under the midnight sun, with bright, long days. Perfect for activities such as cycling, boat trips, kayaking, fjord safaris, or mountain hikes with spectacular views of the magnificent archipelago. The region also boasts some of the world's most beautiful beaches.

Autumn in Tromsø paints the landscape in golden colours and encourages outdoor activities, such as those mentioned above. The midnight sun says farewell, making room for the year's most beautiful sunsets. Although temperatures remain mild, a light dusting of snow may decorate the mountain peaks. The northern lights may surprise with their arrival as early as late August.

During the winter months, activities are particularly focused around the northern lights, by dog sled, snowmobile, boat, or minibus. Tromsø is renowned as one of the world's best places to experience the northern lights, thanks to its location right beneath the northern lights oval.

From November to January, whale safaris are offered. It's amazing to see these big sea mammals up close, in the stunning polar landscape. The rest of the winter offers great opportunities for skiing and mountaineering, not to mention dog sledding across snow-covered valleys.

If you join a sámi experience, you will get a unique insight into the sami culture. You can participate in authentic activities such as reindeer herding and joiking. Culinary adventures also await in the Tromsø region, with meals enjoyed in the wilderness, that celebrate local food and traditions.
