Night bus from Tromsø to Rovaniemi

Aurora Express is a comfortable and convenient way to travel between Tromsø and Rovaniemi while making the most of your time in the Arctic.

The evening departure allows you to travel overnight, leaving more time during the day for activities, sightseeing and exploring.

During the journey, you will receive northern lights alerts. If the northern lights appear and the weather and road conditions are suitable, the bus may stop at selected locations along the route.

Northern lights sightings and viewing stops cannot be guaranteed, as they depend on the weather, cloud cover, road conditions and local visibility.

You will also have access to a digital storytelling app featuring information and stories about Arctic culture, history and landscapes.

Comfort and safety

Professional drivers provide a safe and comfortable journey. The spacious, semi-reclining seats allow you to relax and rest during the overnight trip.

An eye mask, earplugs and a blanket are included. Free Wi-Fi is available on board, and power outlets for charging electronic devices are available on the upper deck.

For safety and comfort reasons, children must be at least 4 years old to travel on the Aurora Express.

Animals are not permitted on board, with the exception of guide dogs.

Please note that Arctic weather and road conditions may result in longer journey times and delayed arrivals.

Food and drinks

A light snack box is provided upon departure, and complimentary hot and cold drinks are available during the journey.

A continental breakfast buffet is served upon arrival at a hotel in central Rovaniemi.

Breakfast is not included for passengers who have selected Santa Claus Village as their arrival point.

Timetable from Tromsø to Rovaniemi

Important: Please arrive at the bus stop no later than 15 minutes before departure.

• Departure from Prostneset Bus Terminal in Tromsø: 8:50 PM (20:50), Norwegian time
• Arrival in Kilpisjärvi: approximately 1:05 AM (01:05), Finnish time
• Arrival in Levi: approximately 5 AM (05:00), Finnish time
• Arrival at Santa Claus Hotel in central Rovaniemi: approximately 7:30 AM (07:30), Finnish time
• Arrival at Santa Claus Village: approximately 8 AM (08:00), Finnish time

The departure point in Tromsø is Prostneset Bus Terminal, Samuel Arnesens gate 5, 9008 Tromsø.

Passengers continuing to Santa Claus Village remain on the bus after the arrival in central Rovaniemi at 7:30 AM (07:30).

The bus may make northern lights viewing stops along the route if the northern lights appear and conditions are suitable.

Luggage allowance

Extra luggage:

• A maximum of one additional suitcase per passenger
• Additional luggage fee: NOK 500
• Luggage capacity is limited. Bags exceeding the stated luggage allowance cannot be accepted

Seat selection

Seats are not individually assigned. When booking, you can select your preferred seat type: upper or lower deck and a single or double seat.

Look for the red double-decker bus marked with Aurora Express.

Time difference between Norway and Finland

Finland is one hour ahead of Norway. Always check the local departure and arrival times shown at the top of your booking confirmation.
