Tromsø Outdoor offers for rent cross country ski package for adults and children. If you are new to skiing, we recommend to have a look on our guided ski trip first.

General information

We offer for rent waxed and waxless skis (for children only waxless).

Skis are suitable to go in and off the trails.
Great for beginners and experienced skiers, not suitable for skating.

If you are beginner we recommend you to order waxless skis. if you know how to use the wax, and that is what you prefer, we will be happy to provide you with skis that you can wax yourself. Let us also know if you have some preferred length of skis you wish to use. Otherwise we will prepare for you the set in the size we think will fit you the best.

When you rent the package, our team will be happy to assist you in planning your ski trip and finding the best trails at the time you are here. You can also check your options before you arrive.

About Tromsø Outdoor

At Tromsø Outdoor, everything we do is driven by our passion for nature, our love for Tromsø and an active outdoor lifestyle.


We focus on providing quality equipment, supporting local development, maintaining a healthy working environment, offering professional advice and making time for friends and family. We do what we love – and we share that lifestyle with our guests. We specialise in guiding authentic outdoor activities in and around Tromsø.



Founded in 2006, Tromsø Outdoor has grown from a one-person operation into a company with 15 permanent employees. Since 2021, we have proudly held the Eco-Lighthouse (Miljøfyrtårn) certification – Norway’s most widely used environmental management system. This certification provides us with the tools to continuously improve our environmental performance and reduce our impact on nature.



Guided activities



We offer small-group tours designed as soft adventures, making them suitable for everyone – from families and beginners to experienced explorers.



Summer, June–September:




  • Explore Tromsø by e-bike



Winter, November–April:




  • Guided snowshoeing trips, from easy family tours to more demanding hikes on Kvaløya

  • Beginner-friendly cross-country skiing courses

  • Guided e-fatbike tours for adventurous cyclists



We can also create tailored experiences for groups upon request.



Rental Centre



For those who prefer to explore independently, the Tromsø Outdoor Rental Centre provides everything you need for your adventure. Our selection includes:




  • More than 300 bicycles, including fatbikes and e-fatbikes with studded tyres

  • Cross-country skis, snowshoes, randonnée skis and splitboards

  • Avalanche safety equipment

  • Winter clothing and boots

  • Camping equipment, reindeer skins, headlamps, tripods and more
