Cross country ski package rental

Tromsø Outdoor offers for rent cross country ski package for adults and children. If you are new to skiing, we recommend to have a look on our guided ski trip first.

General information

We offer for rent waxed and waxless skis (for children only waxless).

Skis are suitable to go in and off the trails.
Great for beginners and experienced skiers, not suitable for skating.

If you are beginner we recommend you to order waxless skis. if you know how to use the wax, and that is what you prefer, we will be happy to provide you with skis that you can wax yourself. Let us also know if you have some preferred length of skis you wish to use. Otherwise we will prepare for you the set in the size we think will fit you the best.

When you rent the package, our team will be happy to assist you in planning your ski trip and finding the best trails at the time you are here. You can also check your options before you arrive.

About Us



Founded in 2006, Tromsø Outdoor has grown from a one-person operation into a company with 15 permanent employees. Since 2021, we have proudly held the Eco-Lighthouse (Miljøfyrtårn) certification – Norway’s most widely used environmental management system. This certification equips us with the tools to continuously improve our environmental performance and reduce our impact on nature.







Guided Activities



We offer small-group tours designed as soft adventures, making them accessible to everyone – from families and beginners to skilled explorers.



Summer (June – September):




  • Explore Tromsø by e-bike



Winter (November – April):




  • Guided snowshoe trips (easy family tours or more demanding hikes on Kvaløya)

  • Cross-country skiing (beginner-friendly ski courses)

  • Guided e-fatbike trip for adventurous cyclists.



On request, we also create tailored offers for groups







Rental Centre



For those who prefer to explore on their own, our Tromsø Outdoor Rental Centre provides everything you need for your adventure. Our equipment selection includes:




  • 300+ bicycles (including fatbikes and e-fatbikes with studded tires)

  • Cross-country skis, snowshoes, randonee skis, and splitboards

  • Avalanche safety equipment

  • Winter clothes and boots

  • Camping gear, reindeer skins, headlamps, tripods, and more
