General information
This tour is operated by Activenorth.
Feel the thrill as our energetic and friendly pack of Alaskan Huskies eagerly work together with you through beautiful surroundings.
You will take the reins of your own Troll cart, sharing the ride two and two. Our experienced guide leads the way in a separate cart with space for two, ensuring a safe, fun and memorable journey.
The dogsledding experience lasts approximately 60 minutes. We will make a stop along the way, giving you time to cuddle the dogs and take photographs.
Whether it is your first time or your tenth, this is more than just a ride – it is an experience you will not forget.
Lunch is served in connection with the tour. All guests are picked up in Tromsø city centre at 9 AM (09:00). When booking, you can choose between Group 1 with dogsledding at 10:45 AM (10:45) or Group 2 with dogsledding at 11:30 AM (11:30). Group 1 enjoys the dogsledding experience first and has lunch afterwards, while Group 2 has lunch first and goes dogsledding afterwards.
We recommend warm clothing on colder days. Wool and fleece are the best options. Dogsledding on wheels is moderately physically challenging.
Meeting time and place
- Departure from Tromsø: Meet outside Scandic Ishavshotel at 8:45 AM (08:45). Departure at 9 AM (09:00).
- Self-drive option: Meet at Activenorth AS, Gammelveien 142, 9143 Skibotn, at 10:45 AM (10:45). Please contact [email protected] if you wish to join the tour with your own vehicle.
Tour programme
- Duration: Approximately 4 hours, plus transfer time of around 90 minutes each way from Tromsø.
- 10:45 AM (10:45) – Arrival in Skibotn
- Group 1 (10:45): Dogsledding on wheels followed by lunch
- Group 2 (11:30): Lunch followed by dogsledding on wheels
- 2:30 PM (14:30) – Departure from Skibotn
- Approximately 4 PM (16:00) – Arrival back in Tromsø
Included: Transfer from Tromsø (approx. 90 minutes one way), English-speaking guide, lunch, hot drinks (coffee and tea), water, guided tour in the Skibotn Valley, warm and waterproof suit, boots, mittens and hat
Please bring: We recommend wearing warm base layers on cold days.
Wool is the best choice for base layers. Dogsledding on wheels is moderately physically demanding.

About Activenorth
Activenorth’s people are a family of five. We live in Skibotn, where we have built our own house, as well as the dog kennel, on Tomas’ family farm.
It all began with one dog named Grace in 2007, and today we have around 30 dogs. We have been running dog sledding tours for tourists since 2008, but this year we are starting a new chapter in our own backyard.
Over the years, we have competed in the world’s longest eight-dog race nine times. We have taken part in races across Finland, Sweden and along the border with Russia.
These incredible dogs have never let us down – not during blizzards, in temperatures as low as -45°C, on difficult trails or in whiteout conditions.
The dogs are our family’s passion, and the children are always included when we race.
