Drum Journey at the Troll Museum

This tour is conducted by the Troll Museum.
An otherworldly experience that combines Norwegian folklore and Indigenous shamanistic traditions.

About us

Are you ready to enter the world of magic, fairy tales, and spirituality? Then join us at the Troll Museum for a unique experience on the edge between the seen and the unseen.

We start with a guided tour of the museum: learn about Norse myths that inspired centuries of folklore, hear the famous fairy tales Norwegian children grow up with, and take a deeper look at the interplay of history, culture, and storytelling with our knowledgeable guide. Along the way, you'll be introduced to the terrifying ice giants, ancient forest trolls, and the local sea troll, to name just a few. For about an hour, we'll immerse ourselves in the world of trolls and other magical creatures that serve as a symbol of Norway to this day. Then, we close out the night with a spiritual drum journey led by Gunnar Steinholm, an experienced local shaman. This traditional ceremony of the Sámi is a part of Indigenous religious and cultural practices that date to pre-Christian times in Northern Europe. It opens the door to the spirit world and allows you to roam it in search of a deeper self-understanding.
