To drive your own team of huskies is an experience out of the ordinary and a must-do for anyone visiting Northern Norway.

General information

This tour is conducted by Norwegian Travel.

We will pick you up from the city center and bring you by bus to our dog sledding camp located in Breivikeidet, a 50 minutes' drive outside Tromsø,

Upon arrival at our camp, situated in a picturesque location close to the sea with the Lyngen Alps in the background, you will be welcomed by our friendly guides. They will provide you with thermal suits, boots, hats and mittens. Your guide will go through the safety instructions and show you the basics of driving the sled. After listening to the demonstration and a few minutes of practice, it is time to head out on your dog sledding adventure!

Two people will share one sled: one as a driver and the other one as a passenger, and you will get the chance to swap places halfway through the tour. This will provide everyone with the opportunity to experience the life of a dog musher and to take all the photographs they want while being a passenger.
The total duration of the sledding tour is about 65 minutes (this is subject to the weather - and trail conditions, so the duration of the sledding tour can differ every day).

Upon arrival at the camp, you are invited into our lavvu (indigenous Sami tent), where you can enjoy a hot drink and cake around the campfire.
Once you changed back to your normal clothes, and waved one last goodbye to the huskies, it is time to board the bus back to Tromsø.

About your dog sledding activity:
This dog sledding tour has been carefully created as an activity accessible for most of you. Although you will need basic physical fitness walking around on snowy terrain and assisting the dogs on pushing the sled when in charge, the terrain is quite flat and open, making sledding comfortable and easy.
