Glamping and Dog Sledding

About us

After a short drive from Tromsø city, you will arrive at our center, where we will be greeted by the guide and introduced to your glamping cabin and the 4-legged buddy that will accompany you through the night. Afterwards, we will equip you with thermal overalls and boots, so you stay warm and cozy while waiting outside for the lights to appear.

Then you will go on a guided tour of our dog yard, where you can meet and cuddle our 200 Alaskan huskies. For dinner, will serve Bacalao - a traditional Norwegian fish dish made from locally sourced cod.

The rest of the evening you can spend outside around a bonfire. As our center is away from Tromsø and city lights, the sky overhead is dark and very well suited for Aurora watching. We will give you a pair of snowshoes to borrow so you can wander away from the group if you feel like and enjoy the views in the snowy fields.

When you get tired, you can head to the glamping cabin and continue watching the sky right from your bed, through the window over your head. Each cabin is equipped with SAMINA sleeping system that has been named world’s best bed. The mattress and duvets are filled with pure sheep wool will ensure your good nights sleep.

The next morning, after a hearty breakfast, we will take you out for a dog sledding adventure! You can decide if you want to ride the sled as the passenger of one of our experienced guides, or if you want to drive it yourself (book ride or self-drive option accordingly). Please note that the self-drive activity has an age restriction of 16 years and requires good physical condition. In both tours, you will be out on the sled for about an hour (depending on the weather conditions) and share it with another guest.

Back at our center a hot lunch of Bidos, Sami reindeer stew, will restore your strength before you say goodbye to our dogs and we will bring you back to Tromsø.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR SELF-DRIVE:
For insurance reasons we impose an age restriction of 16 years for the Dog Sledding Self-Drive option, since the drivers in this tour are most likely very inexperienced and therefore prone to errors. The restriction is also applicable to guests that do not intend to drive the sled themselves. E.g. if a parent wants to do the driving and have their child as a passenger, it is not possible unless the child is over 16 years.

The activity also demands a good level of fitness, including, but not limited to, the ability to jog uphill through snow, a good balance (also on one foot) and a tight grip. Tromsø Villmarkssenter holds the right to refuse passengers we deem unfit for the activity, to ensure the safety of our guests, staff, and animals. In the case of a refusal, we will try to switch the guests to the ride option. Should this not be possible, the price of the tour will not be refunded.

Meeting time/place: 6:30 PM (18:30) in front of Radisson Blu Hotel.
Departure/Return: 6:45 PM (18:45) / 1PM (13:00) next day.
Total duration: 18 hours and 15 minutes.
Included: 45-60 min of dog sledding, transfer (25min each way), aurora guiding, snowshoes, dog yard guiding & puppy visit, warm dinner, snacks, woolen socks, breakfast, warm lunch, thermal suits & boots, overnight stay in our glamping cabin.
Please bring: Warm underwear, gloves, a hat and everything you need for the overnight stay.
