This tour is conducted by Tromsø Outdoor. Once in Norway you cannot leave without trying our national sport! If you have never tried skiing before, or are hesitant, this is your opportunity to learn cross country skiing in a scenic environment and relaxed atmosphere.
General information
First, we teach you how to put the skis on and off. Then we begin to ski using basic techniques in a completely flat area. After some training, we introduce different techniques and by the end of the tour you should be able to challenge yourself on small hills!
We ski towards the northern part of the island in a scenic area with birch and spruce forests, mostly on prepared trails on the top of Tromsøya island, a short drive away from the city center (about 5 minutes). During the tour we take a break where you will be served a hot drink and lefse (a local sweet snack).
After the tour many of our guests rent skis to practice cross country skiing on their own.

As the weather can change rapidly in Northern Norway to join this tour it is obligatory to wear warm and windproof clothes. Winter clothes are not included in the price of the tour, but can be rented separately at our rental center upon prior arrangement.
Included: Skis, poles, ski boots, hot drink, sweet snack, guide and transfer (5min. each way)

Tour is offered with the departure at 9:00 and 13:00
In the main season if the trips are fully booked we will plan an additional departure at 14:30.

Latest meeting time for the additional departure 2:20pm (14:20) at the ground floor in Prostneset terminal in the waiting hall (address: Samuel Arnesens gate 5, Prostneset Tromsø port terminal in the city centre). Planned departure time and place: ca. 2:30pm (14:30) from the port terminal, depending on Hurtigruten's arrival - may be a few minutes earlier or later and we may need to wait.

Sporty people who wish to explore wilder areas can join Guided Snowshoe Hill Hike to Kvaløya. Families with children, seniors or people without experience with snow often choose the Guided Snowshoe Trip on Tromsøya or the Guided easy snowshoeing with a visit to local café. Everyone who has no experience with cross country skiing may enjoy our Cross Country ski trip - beginners ski course.
In the summer we bring our guests out to Explore Tromsø by e-bike.
On request and for groups we prepare tailored offers.
If you prefer to explore our area on your own, the Tromsø Outdoor team in the rental centre will assist you to find the outdoor adventure and the right equipment.
