GuideGunnar`s Private Aurora Chase Dinner

General information

The tour is operated by GuideGunnar.

This northern lights tour treats you to traditional Norwegian snacks around the campfire and has GuideGunnar's Theatre of Food, a hot meal prepared by GuideGunnar over the open camp fire, as an optional extra for groups up to eight guests.

En route to the lights there will be an on-screen introduction to the fascinating physics and cultural history behind the Northern Lights. GuideGunnar tours are run in a high-quality, warm and spacious minibus (17 seats).

Theatre of Food menu options

  • Reindeer stew with onion, mushroom and rice

  • Norwegian Sea fish with vegetables

  • Vegetarian option is available too, on request

The Theatre of Food concept originates from my first Aurora season autumn 2006 where I served dinner in a lavvu (sami tent) by the fjord on Kvaløya island. 

Nowadays Theatre of Food is brought outdoors where I cook your dinner over the open camp fire on Private Aurora Chases in Autumn and Winter, out from Tromsø city.

Minimum age to participate: 1 years, up to 85 years. Child and infant seats are available

Included:

  • Pick-up from and return to Tromsø airport (TOS), cruise ship terminals, city hotels, or your Airbnb address.

  • GuideGunnar guide service

  • Snacks served around the campfire: ’Lefse’ is Arctic Norway's traditional and locally made pastry with cream and sweet goat cheese. Served with hot blackcurrant juice

  • A full outdoor dinner prepared over open fire by GuideGunnar.

  • On-screen introduction to Aurora Borealis en route to the Northern Lights.

  • Warm boots & thermal suits are available in the bus (boots from EU36 / suits from XS)

  • Camera tripods

  • If we catch a good one, I will share my Aurora photographs from your aurora night with you

  • A Google Map directions link showing your Aurora Chase tour route

Please bring:

  • Thermal underwear

  • A good outdoor jacket

  • Scarf, hat, gloves and mittens

  • Water bottle

  • Snacks for the children (in case of a long Northern Lights chase)
