Long Reindeer Sledding, Reindeer Feeding and Sami Culture

General information

Enjoy a 25-30 minute sleigh ride as the reindeer guide you around the valley and along the coast. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to feed 300 of these magnificent animals before entering the gamme for a hot traditional meal cooked over the fire. Finish the day by gathering around the fire to listen to Sami history, stories and joiking (songs).

Itinerary:
-Pick up at the bus terminal at Tromsø Havn Prostneset (Samuel Arnesens gate 5, 9008, Tromsø) at 9.45 AM
(or 12.45 PM for afternoon tours)
-25-minute bus drive to the reindeer camp
-A 25 to 30-minute reindeer sledding ride
-Feeding of wild reindeer around the camp
-Guests can test lasso throwing (but not on real reindeer)
-Warm drinks inside a warm gamme (traditional Sami hut)
-Warm lunch of bidos (a traditional reindeer stew) with more hot
drinks and cookies (vegetarian / vegan / gluten free option available)
-Storytelling of Sami culture and a joik performance (traditional Sami
folk song)
-25 min bus ride back to Tromsø city centre. Back in Tromsø at about
14.00 (or 17.00 for the afternoon tours)

Availability period: This tour by Tromsø Arctic Reindeer is available during the period 1st November 2025 to 5th April 2026.

Included: Guide, transportation, lunch - bidos, traditional reindeer stew (vegetarian / vegan /gluten free options also available), hot drinks (coffee, tea, hot chocolate) and cookies

Departure time and place: 10am or 1pm (13:00) from the bus terminal inside Tromsø Havn Prostneset (Samuel Arnesens gate 5, 9008, Tromsø) - Look for blue jackets with the "Tromsø Arctic Reindeer" logo on
