Join a guided Northern Lights chase by bus from Tromsø city centre. The guides choose the route and stops according to the weather conditions that evening, with the aim of finding clear skies and favourable conditions for seeing the Northern Lights.

The tour travels by comfortable coach to areas outside Tromsø, and you may visit several locations during the evening depending on the conditions.

Searching for favourable conditions

The stops are selected according to the weather conditions that evening. The aim is to find locations with open skies and as little light pollution as possible.

While you wait beneath the Arctic night sky, hot drinks and biscuits are served. If the weather allows, the guides will also light a campfire.

Along the way, the guides share stories about life in the Arctic and are happy to answer questions.

Northern Lights photography

If the Northern Lights appear, the photography guide will take portrait photos of the guests. The photos will be made available online after the tour.

You can also receive tips and advice on how to take your own photos of the Northern Lights.

The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, and the possibility of seeing them depends on the conditions that evening. Sightings therefore cannot be guaranteed.

Minimum age: 4 years

• Transport by modern coach with toilet

Please bring:

• Warm layers, preferably wool, and a winter jacket
• Hat, mittens, scarf and warm socks

• 1 September –15 March: 5:45 PM (17:45)
• 16 March–10 April: 6:45 PM (18:45)

Duration: 6–7 hours

Important information:

• The duration of the tour may vary depending on driving distance, weather conditions and Northern Lights activity.

• The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and sightings cannot be guaranteed.

• No refund is provided if the Northern Lights do not appear. However, you may book the same tour for another evening with a 50% discount, subject to availability. This offer is valid only during the 2026/27 winter season.

• For safety reasons, the operator may refuse participation if a guest’s condition or behaviour is considered a safety risk, for example due to intoxication or unsafe behaviour.

• Pets are not permitted.

• The tour is not wheelchair accessible.
