Arctic Tromsø is the perfect place to chase your dream of seeing the magical Northern Lights. And our big, comfortable boat is the perfect viewing platform! Our spacious, luxurious, and environmentally friendly catamaran MS Rygerdronningen is also very fast. That means we can whisk you away from the city lights to ideal viewing conditions under the dark veil of polar night when the Aurora Borealis puts on its unforgettable light show in the heavens. Our expert guide will tell you all about this amazing natural phenomenon and even offer tips for photographing it.
Second chance guarantee! While our expert crews will do everything possible to find the Auroras, it is a natural phenomenon that we cannot guarantee. However, if you don’t experience the Northern Lights, we offer a free ticket to our next Northern Lights chase with us (subject to availability and this deal only applies the same season).
General information:
Availability period: The Northern Lights Chase by Rødne Fjord Cruise is available Fridays and Sundays from 27th October 2024 to 31st January and daily 1st February to 9th March.
About the boat: MS Rygerdronningen is a great boat for hunting the Northern Lights. You can keep an eye out for the mystical Aurora Borealis dancing in the sky from our luxurious, warm cabin with panoramic windows. Then head out on our spacious viewing decks in the brisk polar air to take in the amazing spectacle. From our on board kiosk you can purchase food and hot or cold drinks.

Included: Fjord cruise aboard a warm, stable, and environmentally friendly catamaran, second chance guarantee (if you don't get to see the northern lights), knowledgeable English-speaking guide, free coffee or tea, a spacious cabin with comfortable leather seatsand free WiFi, thermal suits for loan.
Please bring: Warm and comfortable clothes for being out in the Polar Night: warm jacket, hat and gloves/mittens. Camera.
Departure time and place: Friday and Sunday at 9:00 PM (21.00). Meet up at the latest 8:40 PM (20.40) on the pier behind Nerstranda shopping center.
Duration: 2.5 hours
Number of participants: 1 – 200 guests. Guaranteed departure.
Level of difficulty: Easy. A fjord cruise for everyone. Suitable for baby carriages. The low water level in Tromsø results in a steep gangway for disembarkation and boarding. We can have a limited number of wheelchairs on board, but this requires that the wheelchair user has the mobility to walk on and off the boat, and up and down stairs. Our crew will be helpful in getting both the passenger and wheelchair safely on board. Attendants travel free with documentation. Choose number of attendants in the booking. During the polar night of Arctic winter, we offer day cruises in search of humpback whales and orca. In the evening, you can join us as we seek out the spectacular Northern Lights aboard our high-speed ferry that quickly and comfortably gets us away from the light pollution of Tromsø.
Both the whales and the unforgettable light shows of the Aurora Borealis are natural occurrences that we can’t book in advance. What we can guarantee is that if you don’t see them on one cruise, we will give you a free ticket for the next available cruise.
