Urban experiences meets raw Arctic nature
Private Two Day Arctic Camp with Winter Kayaking – All Inclusive
This is a private, all-inclusive and personalised experience. Our eco-camp, located on the remote Arctic coast, is the perfect place for those seeking a unique stay, tranquillity, and spectacular nature through sea kayaking.
About us
Get closer to nature with Elements Arctic Camp. Here, you will experience a true "back to nature" feeling, with nature close to both body and mind. Our secluded camp is located on the beautiful island of Rebbenesøya, only a two-hour scenic journey from Tromso. This is a paradise for kayaking and hiking, and during the winter season it is often possible to go snowshoeing or cross-country skiing as well.
Our trips are ideal for families, couples and small groups who want to experience something special and completely different. Your guide and host, Lise, is passionate, energetic and personal, and tailors each trip to your experience level, wishes and the weather conditions. No previous kayaking experience is required.
You will stay in a cosy and comfortable yurt and enjoy locally sourced food. The journey to the camp, including both road and ferry transport, is an adventure in itself. You will paddle through crystal-clear waters between islands, around islets and skerries, surrounded by spectacular Arctic coastal scenery.
It is common to see white-tailed eagles, otters, seals and a variety of seabirds while kayaking. You will gain insight into Arctic wildlife, coastal culture and local history.
The camp is located near the Nordkvaløya–Rebbenesøya Protected Landscape Area, which represents the coastal culture of Troms, as well as several nature reserves. Alongside its remarkable biodiversity, the area has a rich cultural heritage dating back to the Stone Age. There are significant seabird colonies, diverse wildlife populations and notable Quaternary geological formations.
The camp has no road access and no electricity. We collect water from a nearby stream and utilise both solar and wind energy. Reuse and recycling are central parts of our philosophy.
This is a place to experience peace, silence, dramatic weather and the unique character of each season with its changing colours, contrasts and atmosphere. With no light pollution, it is also an excellent location for stargazing and, when conditions allow, experiencing the magical Northern Lights.
Programme
We will pick you up in Tromso city centre or a nearby location by arrangement. The journey to the camp is an adventure in itself, including a scenic 90-minute drive followed by a 15-minute ferry crossing to Rebbenesøya.
From the ferry landing, there is a 15-minute walk or snowshoe hike to the camp along a slightly uneven path. After settling into the yurt and warming it up, we enjoy a meal together.
The afternoon and evening activities are planned according to weather conditions, your kayaking experience and your preferences. Paddling in the dark is a special experience, and if we are lucky, we may witness the magical Northern Lights from the kayak.
Back at camp, we enjoy a delicious dinner prepared using local ingredients. Afterwards, you can look forward to a comfortable night's sleep in a warm yurt with made-up beds.
The following day, after breakfast, another kayaking trip awaits in the Arctic winter daylight. Upon returning to camp, we enjoy a meal before preparing for the journey back.
If weather conditions are unsuitable for kayaking, or if you would like additional activities, there are many alternatives available. We can go hiking in the surrounding area, take a sightseeing drive around the island combined with a hike, or visit some of Rebbenesøya's beautiful beaches.
During periods with sufficient snow, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are also possible. Equipment for both activities is available at the camp.
Look forward to something truly exceptional.
Please contact us directly if you are travelling as a family or in a group of more than four people.
In addition to this tour, we also offer three-day winter kayaking experiences. From January, these are replaced by our three-day winter adventure, which combines kayaking with snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. We are happy to help you choose the best time to visit.
We look forward to welcoming you and providing a memorable Arctic experience!
