General information

This tour is conducted by Tromsø Lapland

Your adventure begins with a convenient pick-up right outside the main entrance of the Radisson Blu Hotel in Tromsø — look for your guide wearing a traditional blue luhkka (Sami poncho). After check-in, you’ll enjoy a scenic 45-minute drive to our camp, surrounded by the stunning Northern Norwegian mountains.

Upon arrival, our friendly Sami guides will give you a brief safety orientation before leading you to the reindeer pen, where the feeding activity begins.

As you feed the reindeer, you’ll learn more about these incredible animals and take in the breathtaking views of the Lyngen Alps in the distance — a perfect moment to immerse yourself in the beauty of the Arctic!

Once the reindeer are fed and content, it’s time for you to enjoy a delicious meal. You’ll head to the Gamme, a modern twist on a traditional Sami hut, or the Lavvu, a classic Sami tent similar to a tipi. Here, you’ll enjoy a warm drink and a hearty portion of Biddos — our traditional Sami stew made with reindeer meat, potatoes, and carrots.

We also offer a vegan option: a flavorful vegetable soup with lentils, carrots, broccoli, and green beans. (The vegan dish can be made gluten- and lactose-free.)

After your meal, relax inside the Gamme as your guide shares fascinating insights into life in the Arctic, Sami culture and history, and showcases a collection of authentic Sami artifacts and clothing.

Come experience the magic of the Arctic — and immerse yourself in Sami traditions and the majestic reindeer herding culture!

Included: Scenic transfers (45 minutes each way), knowledgeable English-speaking Sami guide, entrance to the fence and feeding of the herd at our camp, hot drinks and hot meal (traditional Sámi stew or vegetable soup) and stories about the life and culture of the Sámi people.
