Join us on a captivating journey into the heart of Sámi culture, where you will meet gentle reindeer, glide through the snowy landscape on a reindeer sled and hear fascinating stories told by Sámi reindeer herders. Get ready for an evening filled with memorable experiences – and, with a little luck, the northern lights may also make an appearance.

General information

This tour is operated by Best Arctic.

Step into our world and spend a magical evening with our reindeer – gentle, curious animals that have lived alongside our families for generations. Led by Nils Peder and the Samiway family, this experience offers an insight into Sámi life and invites you to breathe in the crisp Arctic air and learn more about our traditions.

You will meet our reindeer up close, feed them by hand and experience one of the oldest Sámi forms of transport: reindeer sledding. The relaxing 10–15-minute ride gives you a taste of how our ancestors travelled through the winter landscape for centuries. You will also have the opportunity to try lasso throwing, a traditional Sámi skill with deep cultural roots.

After the outdoor activities, we will welcome you into our warm, fire-lit lávvu, a traditional Sámi tent. Here, you will hear personal stories about reindeer husbandry, Sámi heritage and how we live today. As the Arctic evening settles outside, you can relax by the fire and enjoy freshly brewed coffee or tea and a warm bowl of soup served with bread.

Location of the activity: Camp Heggeli in Nordkjosbotn
