Join us for a guided sea fishing adventure where you’ll learn how to catch, handle and fillet your own fish. No experience is needed—we’ll teach you everything. After the trip, we’ll cook your fresh catch together on the quay and enjoy it in our cosy lounge. An unforgettable experience from sea to plate.

About the trip

The day begins with a 3-hour fishing trip in the scenic Kattfjord. You’ll learn about the area’s most important fish species and the techniques used to catch them. You’ll also take in breathtaking views, spot local wildlife and hear fascinating stories about the region’s history.

On board, you’ll receive guidance on how to handle your catch and fillet your fish. Once back on land, the grill is ready, and we prepare the day’s catch together.

If the weather allows, we enjoy dinner on the quay. If not, we gather in our cosy lounge by the fireplace, sharing a freshly prepared meal and memories of a great day at sea.

The trip starts at Lauklines (Vasstrandveien 578, 9108 Kvaløya). We also offer pick-up in Tromsø for an additional fee.

Fish species

The scenic Kattfjord and the rich waters off the west coast of Kvaløya offer an exciting sea fishing experience, where you can catch a variety of species such as cod, coalfish, haddock, wolffish and halibut.

Important: Transport to and from Tromsø city centre is available at an additional cost. Please select the group with transport when booking if you would like transport included.

Minimum age to participate: All ages. If your child requires a child seat, please contact us at least one week before departure.

Included: Skipper/guide, fishing equipment, flotation suits, boots, socks, hat, gloves, a warm meal, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and photos from the trip

Level of difficulty: Easy

Departure time and place: We are flexible with the start time and can adjust it to suit your preferences. Without transfer included, the tour starts at Lauklines (Vasstrandveien 578, 9108 Kvaløya). With transfer included, we offer pick-up in Tromsø according to your preferences

Duration: Without transfer included: 4–5 hours. With transfer included: 5.5–6.5 hours

About Explore the Arctic

We are a small adventure company with 20 years of experience in organising outdoor activities on Kvaløya and in the Tromsø area.


Over the years, we have developed and improved our tours, with an increasing focus on quality and personal service. Our experience and knowledge of the area help ensure a memorable Arctic experience.



During our tours, guests learn about the area, its history and wildlife. We provide high-quality clothing and all the necessary equipment. We also make an effort to visit good locations for photography, and any photos taken by us during the tour are included.



Since the beginning, we have focused on giving something back to our small community by involving local people and small businesses in what we do.



Being in nature is our passion, while photographing wildlife and spectacular natural phenomena is what drives us. Without this beautiful natural environment, we would not be able to do what we do. During our tours, we therefore share the importance of respecting and protecting our surroundings.
