Travel from Tromsø to Senja on a self-guided full-day sightseeing tour by Arctic Route bus and ferry. The tour includes two scenic ferry crossings, a photo stop at Ersfjord Beach, lunch at Hamn and a vegetarian wrap for the return journey.
This is an easy and comfortable way to experience Senja’s fjords, beaches, fishing villages and dramatic Arctic landscapes without having to drive yourself.

Travel from Tromsø to Senja by bus and ferry
The tour departs from Prostneset Bus Terminal in central Tromsø. From Tromsø, the Arctic Route bus travels across Kvaløya before boarding a local ferry to Senja.
After approximately 1.5 hours on the road, you will board the ferry to Senja. The journey then continues through the coastal landscapes of western Senja.
This is a self-guided tour. The Arctic Route bus provides transport between Tromsø and Senja, allowing you to enjoy the scenery along the way at your own pace during the scheduled stops.
Explore the Arctic landscapes of Senja
Senja is often described as “Norway in miniature” because of its varied landscapes. During the tour, you can experience deep fjords, steep peaks, white sandy beaches and traditional fishing villages.
The journey follows part of the Norwegian Scenic Route Senja on the western side of the island.
There will be a scheduled photo stop at Ersfjord Beach, where you can stretch your legs, enjoy the Arctic summer scenery and take photos.
Local lunch at Hamn in Senja
At Storbrygga restaurant in the historic fishing village of Hamn, which dates back to the 1880s, you will be served traditional fish soup with two small tastings.
The restaurant overlooks the harbour and the mountain Sukkertoppen. When the weather allows, you may be able to enjoy lunch outside on the quay.
There will also be time to walk around and enjoy the maritime surroundings.
Food and drinks
Fish soup with two small tastings is included in the tour. A kiosk at Hamn also sells snacks and drinks.
For the return journey to Tromsø, you will receive a food bag containing a vegetarian wrap and Arctic water.
There will also be a stop at the local supermarket in Skaland at approximately 1:35 PM (13:35) on the outward journey and 4:15 PM (16:15) on the return journey. Please note that the supermarket is closed on Sundays.

The Arctic Route bus will make several scheduled pick-up and drop-off stops between Tromsø and Senja.
Included: Transport by Arctic Route bus, two ferry crossings, fish soup with two small tastings, a vegetarian wrap and Arctic water for the return journey, and a photo stop at Ersfjord Beach.
Please bring: Warm and comfortable clothing, a windproof and waterproof jacket, suitable walking shoes, a camera and sunglasses on sunny days.
Meeting time and place: Meet at 8:30 AM (08:30) at Prostneset Bus Terminal in Tromsø, beside the bus platforms at Samuel Arnesens gate 5. Look for the red Arctic Route bus with route number 930 displayed on the front screen.
