This tour is conducted by North Experience. We invite you to join us on a fun snowmobile safari through varied terrain where the locals ride.

General information

You’ll be part of a small group and get to explore a beautiful natural area outside Tromsø. During our evening tour, you may even experience the northern lights.

Upon arrival at Basecamp, we’ll dress in warm winter gear and begin the adventure with safety instructions and a practical demonstration. Once everything is ready, it’s time to follow our 20 km snowmobile trail leading up into the snow-covered mountains.

We’ll make several stops along the way to take photos and enjoy the snow. You will share a snowmobile with one other person – one driving and one as a passenger – with plenty of opportunities to switch during the two-hour ride.

After driving back down the trail and parking the snowmobiles, we’ll serve you a hot meal in a traditional Northern Norwegian setting around the open fire in a reindeer herder’s tent. After relaxing and warming up, it’s time to return to Tromsø.

Note: To drive a snowmobile, you must hold a valid driver’s licence.

Age limit: Minimum 12 years old. Children aged 12–15 must also meet the minimum height requirement of 140 cm.

Included: Winter overalls, boots, mittens and hat, helmet, hot meal and warm drinks, experienced guides (Norwegian and English-speaking), and transfer from Tromsø (if selected when booking)
Please bring: Warm wool underwear

Departure time and place:

If you select transfer from Tromsø:
Meeting time and place: 4:45 PM at Radisson Blu Hotel, Tromsø (pickup at 5:00 PM).
Arrival at North Experience Basecamp, Hatteng: 6:30 PM.
Return to Tromsø: Departure from Basecamp at 10:30 PM, arriving back around midnight.

If you select no transfer (meet at the starting point):
Meeting time and place: North Experience Basecamp, Hatteng (Storfjord Municipality) at 6:30 PM.

Duration: Approx. 4.5 hours + transfer from Tromsø (about 75 minutes each way). You will spend around 2 hours on the snowmobile.
