Snowmobile Safari in the Amazing Lyngen Alps

General information

Explore the Lyngen Alps by snowmobile just outside Tromsø. Experience breathtaking views of the steep alpine mountains and the magical Arctic light that makes the Lyngen Alps so unique.

On your way to us, you will travel along fjords and mountains with spectacular scenery. The journey also includes a ferry crossing over Ullsfjorden to the Lyngen Alps. After the ferry ride, our guide will meet you and take you to our fishing village in the northern part of the Lyngen Alps.

Lyngen is home to a rich variety of wildlife, and along the way you may spot eagles, foxes or even a moose. You will learn about the local history and visit the fishing village, where fishing has long played an important role in the lives of the people who live here.

We keep our groups small, with a maximum of 16 participants. At XLyngen Resort, you will meet your guides and be provided with appropriate clothing before the tour begins. During the snowmobile safari, two participants share each snowmobile and take turns driving, allowing everyone to enjoy both the driving experience and the stunning scenery.

Along the route, we will stop at scenic viewpoints where you can take photographs, enjoy the surroundings and admire the spectacular views. Our trails are longer than many others in the region, and we can reach elevations of up to 300 metres above sea level.

All tours are guided, and participants must follow the guide's instructions at all times.

When you return from the snowmobile safari, you will be served a delicious homemade meal with fresh bread and your choice of a hot drink. For dessert, you can enjoy a waffle or a slice of cake prepared in our kitchen. The meal is served in our panoramic waterfront restaurant, Bøteriet, located right on the edge of the wharf. Here you can relax and enjoy your meal while taking in the beauty of Arctic life outside.

Good to know:

• To drive a snowmobile at XLyngen, you must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driving licence.

• Children: From 7 -12 years and they need to be able to hold them self on the snowmobile.

• If you choose the option with transport, you will return to Tromsø at approximately 4:15 PM (16:15).

• Pickup from Svensby ferry quay at 10:20 AM (10:20) is also available. Please contact us directly to arrange this option.


Included: Two-hour guided snowmobile safari along designated trails, hot drinks and a hot meal served in our panoramic restaurant, warm overalls and boots, helmet, and return transport from Tromsø. Please select transport when booking if required
Please bring: Warm clothing. Woollen base layers are recommended, as well as a valid driving licence if you wish to drive the snowmobile
