Snowmobiling at Camp Tamok

This tour is operated by Destination Tromsø.

Your snowmobile adventure begins with a comfortable 90-minute bus transfer from Tromsø city centre to the remote Tamokdalen Valley, where our wilderness camp is located.

Upon arrival, your experienced guide will greet you and provide thermal suits, boots and mittens to ensure you stay warm and comfortable in the Arctic winter. Before setting off, you will receive thorough safety instructions and training on how to operate your snowmobile, so you can explore with confidence.

Follow your guide along scenic Arctic trails, passing snowy mountains, frozen rivers and peaceful valleys. Each snowmobile is shared by two people, and you will take turns driving and being a passenger. Halfway through the tour, we take a break to switch drivers and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

After your Arctic snowmobile tour, you return to camp and relax in a traditional Sámi lavvu. Enjoy a warm meal and hot drinks by the fire while sharing stories from the adventure with fellow travellers.

During peak season, we may split the group to create a more personal experience. In this case, half of the group starts with the snowmobile tour, while the other half starts with a meal in the lavvu.

At the end of the day, you return to Tromsø by bus, taking home memories from a true Arctic winter adventure.

Important information:

• You must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driver’s licence to operate a snowmobile.

• Passengers must be at least 7 years old.

• Maximum one child per adult. Each child must be accompanied by an adult.

• Drivers and passengers must be at least 130 cm tall to meet the safety requirements.

• Maximum weight is 120 kg per person.

• Pregnant guests are not allowed to participate.

• This activity is not suitable for wheelchair users.

• Pets are not allowed.

• Please inform us of any food allergies or dietary requirements when booking. If this is not provided in advance, an additional fee of NOK 150 will be charged.

• Self-liability can be reduced to NOK 1,000 by paying a waiver supplement of NOK 300 per snowmobile driver.

• Solo driving can be purchased as an add-on for guests who do not wish to share a snowmobile.

• This activity requires good physical fitness and confidence in handling a snowmobile over longer distances and in challenging terrain.

• Due to the dramatic topography, reduced speed is maintained during some parts of the tour.

• The duration of the snowmobiling activity itself may vary from day to day, depending on snow and weather conditions.

• For the safety and comfort of all guests, our staff reserve the right to refuse participation if a guest’s condition or behaviour raises safety concerns. This includes, but is not limited to, intoxication, being under the influence of substances or unsafe behaviour.

• The evening tour is not focused on chasing the Northern Lights, but it offers a great opportunity to experience this natural phenomenon if conditions are favourable.
