Experience the Arctic Fjords: A Day Tour from Tromsø

Join us on a scenic day tour from Tromsø to explore the Arctic fjords, charming coastal communities, and dramatic landscapes that define this part of Northern Norway. Led by a local guide with a lifelong connection to the region, this small-group experience combines spectacular scenery, an easy hike, local insights, and photography opportunities throughout the day.

We depart from Tromsø city centre and travel westward along one of Northern Norway's most beautiful coastal routes. Along the way, we make several carefully selected photo stops, including the spectacular Ersfjord, surrounded by steep mountain slopes, and the white sands of Sandvika Beach, where turquoise waters create an unexpected contrast to the Arctic landscape.

The tour continues to Sommarøy, a picturesque island community known for its crystal-clear waters, white sandy beaches, and rich coastal heritage. As we travel through the region, your guide shares stories about everyday life in Arctic Norway, local traditions, and the close relationship between the people and the surrounding nature.

Weather and conditions permitting, we take a hike to Ørnfløya, a scenic viewpoint just outside Sommarøy. The trail is easy and accessible for most fitness levels, with an elevation gain of approximately 155 metres — around 30 minutes up and 30 minutes down at a relaxed pace. From the top, you'll enjoy panoramic views over Sommarøy, Hillesøy, Brensholmen, the island of Senja, and the open Norwegian Sea — a perfect spot for landscape photography and a quiet moment with nature.

After the hike, we enjoy a light lunch with coffee and tea at a peaceful location by the coast. Depending on the weather, lunch may be enjoyed outdoors with sea views or inside the comfort of the minibus.

The Arctic landscape is also home to a variety of wildlife. Depending on the season and a bit of luck, you may spot reindeer, sea eagles, and other birds along the route.
