This tour is operated by Sommarøy Adventure.
Join the Arctic Route bus for a scenic bus ride to Sommarøy, a popular destination for kayaking and nature enthusiasts. Upon arrival at our activity centre, your guide will help you get ready with equipment and safety tips before we start paddling.
Together, we will explore quiet bays, white sandy beaches and small islands that are only reachable by kayak or boat. As you paddle, look out for sea eagles and local wildlife against the backdrop of Sommarøy’s stunning coastal scenery.
Midway through the tour, we will stop ashore for a break, where your guide will share insights into the island’s fishing heritage, everyday life and wildlife.
Whether you are new to kayaking or experienced, our stable double kayaks, or single kayaks for advanced paddlers, ensure a smooth experience.
The tour ends back at the activity centre, giving you a bit of time to explore the island on your own before hopping back on board the Arctic Route bus to return to Tromsø city centre.
Good to know:
• Minimum age to participate is 10 years.
• This tour is not accessible for wheelchair users.
• No prior kayaking experience is needed.
• All tours are guided by certified local instructors and adjusted to ensure safety and comfort.
• Please let our guides know about any medical conditions or other relevant information before the tour.
• This tour is weather-dependent and may need to be rescheduled or cancelled for safety reasons. A full refund will be offered if the tour is cancelled.
Included: Transfer by Arctic Route bus, certified local guide with experience kayaking in Arctic conditions, sea kayak and all necessary gear, dry suit if needed, paddle mittens, neoprene boots and paddle jacket
Please bring: Warm base layers to wear underneath the dry suit, warm fleece or jumper, beanie and gloves, camera/GoPro optional and water bottle
