General information

The Sommarøy archipelago is home to a large population of sea eagles year-round, and watching them soar over the landscape in search of fish is a remarkable sight.

On this guided tour, we take you out in our well-equipped and heated boat to search the islands and cliffs for this majestic bird. With a wingspan of more than two metres, seeing a sea eagle up close is an impressive and unforgettable experience.

You may also encounter other wildlife, such as otters, harbour porpoises, black guillemots and other seabirds. When the weather permits, we will also explore the wild and exposed coast of Senja and go ashore for a guided tour of Hekkingen Lighthouse. We will open the lighthouse tower to give you a 360-degree view of the surrounding area.

• Transport to and from Tromsø is not included.
• This tour is not wheelchair accessible.
• Pets are not allowed on this tour.

About Sommarøy Adventure

Sommarøy Adventure is a tour company that offers coastal adventures, including sea kayaking, boat tours and sea-to-summit excursions on foot, skis or snowshoes.


We run tours all year round, with a focus on sea kayaking in both the midnight sun and the polar night. Depending on the season, we offer hiking trips and wildlife safaris, as well as northern lights tours, snowshoe hikes and ski touring.



During the summer season, our primary base is located in Sommarøy, a sea kayaking paradise approximately one hour from Tromsø and a popular destination for kayaking and nature enthusiasts.



In winter, we operate from our outdoor base camp in Eidkjosen and offer convenient bus transfers from Tromsø city centre, which takes only about 15 minutes.



We are proud to have local guides with extensive knowledge of the region and the skills needed for guiding in the Arctic.
