General information

The place is run by sisters Sissel and Wenche and we will do our very best to ensure that you have a pleasant stay.

Tranøya is a historic and idyllic island on the south coast of Senja. There is no car traffic on the island and this is the perfect place to enjoy the peace and quiet. The magnificent rectory from 1856 has been renovated and is used for accommodation for our guests, in addition to the cozy Bryggerhuset from the year 1900. Here we have several types of rooms for rent. We have 14 beds and the accommodation here is experienced as private and distinctive. The houses are decorated in a homely and authentic style. The same goes for the rooms, which also have good beds, light-tight curtains and beautiful views. The sisters serve homemade, traditional farm food and locally brewed beer. Meals are served at long tables in our pleasant dining rooms. It is a nice arena for storytelling about Vikings and priests who have lived on the island or for socializing with other guests. We provide access to the island with our own skipper and boat.

On Tranøya you can participate in a guided cultural walk along cultural paths that are rich in old sites and burial sites, the oldest from 2000 years ago. Here there are good hiking opportunities along well-trodden paths or in the countryside and we are happy to make a packed lunch for you if you wish. On the island there is beautiful nature and bustling wildlife of wild species. Our spelled sheep roam freely all year round and nurture the cultural landscape. They are social animals that like to greet. Here are good paddling conditions and fishing opportunities from a boat and we rent out the equipment you need. We have snowshoes and kicks available on the farm in the winter. You can also enjoy a lovely bath in the outdoor jacuzzi or paddle a ride on our paddle boards (SUP). It is very nice to sit in the boathouse or the shore by the fire. The old Tranøy church from 1773 is open to the public and well worth a visit. The same applies to the Mid-Troms Museum's exhibition in the old Prestegården (1740).
