Try It – ski touring experience

General information

This tour is conducted by Tromsø Ski Guides.

We meet at Tromsø Outdoor in the city center and drive from there to a mountain area with easy ski touring terrain. Here, we move upwards, from the forest and above the tree line, with skins under the skis. We will experience the mountains, the snow, the tracks of animals, and we will see the special arctic light. We will be far away from roads and people. The guide will teach you skiing techniques, how to move on skis without getting too tired, and how to ski down in the powder snow. 

We ascend at a leisurely pace, taking breaks to take pictures and maybe have a drink. We tailor the trip based on the guests' skills and skiing experience. Eventually, we stop either at the top of the mountain or maybe a bit below. We enjoy the view and have a snack before skiing down. If we are lucky, we find powder snow to play in. The guide will teach you along the way how to best ski down in powder snow and how to handle the equipment.

Included: Guidance and instruction from the guide both before, during, and after the trip, as well as taxi transportation to and from the mountain.

Please bring: A 30–40-liter backpack with a packed lunch or snacks and warm drinks. Bring an extra warm sweater or a down jacket in the backpack and bring a hat and mittens. You should wear ski clothes and woolen underwear, a warm sweater, woolen socks, and a beanie when meeting at Tromsø Outdoor at 10:00am. Ski equipment is not included and must be ordered from Tromsø Outdoor at least the day before.

Latest meeting time and place: 10:00am at Tromsø Outdoor (Fredrik Langes gate 14, 9008 Tromsø) to meet the guide and receive your pre-ordered ski touring equipment.
