Two Day Arctic Camp with Kayaking

General information

This tour is operated by Elements Arctic Camp.

You and your travel companions will spend the night in your own yurt, paddle through magnificent Arctic scenery, enjoy locally sourced food, and experience Arctic wildlife and coastal culture up close.

The camp consists of two yurts and has no road access or electricity. Water is collected from a nearby stream. This is a place to experience peace, silence, ever-changing weather, and the unique character of each season, with its colours, contrasts and atmosphere.

We paddle through crystal-clear waters between islands and skerries, where it is common to spot white-tailed eagles, otters, seals and a variety of seabirds.

Programme

We will pick you up in Tromso city centre or a nearby location by arrangement. The journey to the camp is an experience in itself, including a scenic 90-minute drive, a 10-minute ferry crossing to Rebbenesøya, and a 15-minute walk to the camp.

During the evening kayaking trip, you can enjoy the beautiful Arctic evening light. From mid-May until mid-July, the midnight sun bathes the landscape in golden light throughout the night.

Back at camp, we prepare dinner together in a warm and cosy yurt or around the campfire. The following day, after breakfast, we head out on another kayaking trip lasting approximately 3–4 hours. Upon returning to camp, we enjoy a hot meal before preparing for the journey back to Tromso.

If weather conditions are unsuitable for kayaking, we may instead explore the island by car and/or go hiking, where you can enjoy spectacular panoramic views from one of the island's mountains.

Please contact us directly if you are travelling as a family or in a group of more than four people. We also offer a winter package and are happy to help you choose the best season for your visit.

Each yurt has four beds arranged as two double bunk beds. The camp also has a boathouse with a bio toilet.

The trip is suitable for both beginners and experienced paddlers. Please state your level of kayaking experience when booking. We also require your height and weight to ensure that the correct equipment is prepared for you.

Please bring:

• Warm and waterproof outer clothing
• At least two layers of clothing to wear underneath the dry suit (for example a wool base layer and fleece)
• A change of clothes
• Warm mittens
• A warm hat
• Waterproof boots

Please pack your belongings in a backpack.

Duration: 29 hours. From 1 PM (13:00) to 6 PM (18:00) the following day.

Departure time and place: 1 PM (13:00) from Tromso city centre or surrounding area, by arrangement.
