Experience dog sledding, snowmobiling, a two-course dinner and the chance to see the Northern Lights, all in one Arctic evening at Camp Tamok.
General information
This tour is operated by Destination Tromsø.
Experience several Arctic highlights in one evening with dog sledding, snowmobiling and the chance to see the Northern Lights at Camp Tamok.
Your adventure begins with a bus journey from Tromsø city centre to Camp Tamok in the Tamok Valley. When you arrive, your guide will provide a thermal suit, boots and mittens to help keep you warm throughout the evening.
Dog sledding through the winter landscape
Meet the huskies and learn how to control your own dog sled before setting off into the snowy wilderness. Two guests share each sled and take turns driving.
Dog sledding is physically demanding. You must be able to help the dogs by pushing the sled uphill and through deep or fresh snow. Good balance, coordination, strength and physical fitness are required.
Dinner and Northern Lights introduction
After dog sledding, return to the camp and warm up in the wilderness lounge, where a traditional two-course dinner will be served.
Your guide will then introduce you to the science behind the Northern Lights and explain how local weather conditions affect your chances of seeing them.
Snowmobiling beneath the night sky
The evening continues with a guided snowmobile tour through the winter landscape. You will stop along the route to look for the Northern Lights and take photographs if they appear.
Two guests share each snowmobile and can take turns driving, provided both meet the driving requirements. You must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driving licence to drive a snowmobile.
Northern Lights sightings depend on weather and solar activity and cannot be guaranteed.
After returning to Camp Tamok, change out of your equipment and relax during the bus journey back to Tromsø.
