This Arctic Route connection runs from late November to March. Please check the calendar for availability.
The route takes you from Tromsø to Rovaniemi in Finnish Lapland. Along the way, you can enjoy beautiful Arctic landscapes, from Norwegian fjords and tundra to snow-covered forests and small communities in Finland.
This route connects Tromsø and Rovaniemi in one day, with stops at several interesting destinations along the way, including Kilpisjärvi, Levi Ski Resort and Santa Claus Village.
The journey is operated with comfortable coaches. Between Tromsø and Kilpisjärvi, the Arctic Route buses have free Wi-Fi, USB and charging points, a toilet on board and experienced English-speaking drivers. Please note that Wi-Fi is only available between Tromsø and Kilpisjärvi.
A longer stop of around 30 minutes is made in Karesuvanto, Finland, where you can buy food and coffee, and stretch your legs.
Bus change in Kilpisjärvi
You will change bus in Kilpisjärvi, at the K-Market stop by the petrol station.
Direction Tromsø – Rovaniemi: Change from the red Arctic Route bus to the yellow and red bus operated by our partner Eskelisen Lapin Linjat.
Direction Rovaniemi – Tromsø: Change from the yellow and red bus operated by Eskelisen Lapin Linjat to the red Arctic Route bus.
In Tromsø, the bus departs from Prostneset Bus Terminal.
How to recognise the buses
The Arctic Route buses between Tromsø and Kilpisjärvi are red and marked with the Arctic Route logo.
Our partner Eskelisen Lapin Linjat operates the route between Kilpisjärvi and Rovaniemi / Santa Claus Village. Their buses are yellow and red and marked with the Eskelisen Lapin Linjat logo.
Important information
Due to Arctic weather and road conditions, travel times may be extended and arrivals may be delayed.
Finland is one hour ahead of Norway.
Animals are unfortunately not allowed on board, with the exception of guide dogs.
Luggage
Each passenger may bring one piece of easy-to-manage hand luggage, which must fit under the seat or in the overhead rack.
Each passenger may also bring one larger item of luggage. The total height + length + width must not exceed 200 cm, and the maximum weight is 23 kg.
