General information

This tour is operated by Northern Light Dog Adventure.

Join a North Norwegian family and be actively involved throughout the experience, from the briefing around the kitchen table to looking after your own dog team and helping to feed them.

We start with a scenic drive from downtown Tromsø to our house and dog yard, set among high and spectacular mountains. Harness your dog team and head out on an exciting dog sledding adventure through challenging terrain surrounded by spectacular Arctic scenery. The actual dog sledding lasts approximately 1–2 hours, depending on conditions.

We only offer this quality product to small groups because we want you to get the most out of this beautiful adventure. Participants must be in good physical shape and willing to be actively involved throughout the tour.

We provide all necessary gear, instruction, hospitality and a coffee break.

Two people share each sled, and you will have the opportunity to switch between being the musher (driver) and passenger.

The guide will gladly take photos of you with your dog team as a memory of your Arctic adventure.

Information regarding children:

Age limit: Minimum 12 years. Only guests over 18 years old may drive the sled.
Children: Children under 12 years old may join only on request.

Availability period: This dogsledding tour by Northern Light Dog Adventure is available from 1st December to 31st March.

The trail is uneven and bumpy, and dog sledding requires a certain level of fitness. Participants need to be able to balance, maintain a good grip on the handlebar and assist the dogs by jogging or scooting uphill when needed.

Travel insurance is recommended, as Northern Light Dog Adventure does not cover accidents.

The tour is not suitable during pregnancy. We also do not recommend the tour for very young children.

There is limited space for bags and camera equipment on the sled itself, but personal belongings can be left safely at the base. Items brought on the sled are carried at your own risk.

Please note that we have cats at our base. Guests with cat allergies should take necessary precautions before visiting.

Guests staying nearby or travelling by rental car are welcome to drive directly to the base. Please inform the operator at least 24 hours in advance so the correct address can be provided. The tour price is the same with or without transport.

Photos and videos taken by staff during the day may be shared on social media.
