Explore the Arctic fjords around Tromsø and experience whales in their natural habitat.
General information
This tour is operated by Helgøy Skyssbåt.
Join us on an unforgettable whale safari from Tromsø to the Arctic fjords around Skjervøy, one of Northern Norway’s most important feeding grounds for orcas and humpback whales.
Each winter, whales gather in these nutrient-rich waters, offering a unique opportunity to observe these magnificent animals in their natural habitat. Along the way, you will travel through spectacular fjords surrounded by snow-covered mountains, dramatic coastlines and the breathtaking winter landscapes of Arctic Norway.
Our fast and modern vessels give us the flexibility to adapt the route throughout the day based on the latest whale activity. This allows us to spend more time in the areas where whales are most likely to be found, while ensuring a comfortable journey through the Arctic wilderness.
On board, you can relax in heated indoor lounges with large panoramic windows or step outside to enjoy unobstructed views of the surrounding scenery. We never operate at full passenger capacity, providing more space and a more comfortable experience for everyone on board.
While whales are the highlight of the tour, the experience offers much more than wildlife alone. Keep an eye out for white-tailed eagles and other marine wildlife as you take in the dramatic fjords and untouched Arctic landscapes.
Our experienced local crew continuously monitors whale activity and will always do their best to locate the areas where whales have recently been observed. At the same time, we follow all guidelines for responsible whale watching and always operate with respect for both the animals and their environment.
