Experience dog sledding near Tromsø and drive your own team of huskies through the snowy Arctic landscape at Tamokhuset. This full-day tour includes return transport from Tromsø, time with the huskies, a warm meal and the chance to take turns driving the sled.

General information

This tour is operated by Destination Tromsø.

The tour starts with a bus journey from Tromsø city centre. After approximately 95 minutes through the Arctic landscape, you will arrive at Tamokhuset, where your dog sledding experience begins.

On arrival, the group is divided into two. One group prepares for the dog sledding and is provided with the necessary winter clothing. Before setting off, you will receive a safety briefing and instructions on how to drive and control the sled.

Two people share each sled. One person drives the dog team while the other sits on the sled. Halfway through the tour, you will normally have the opportunity to swap roles so that both can try driving and being a passenger.

The dog sledding takes place in relatively flat and open winter terrain. You should be in normal physical condition and able to help the dogs by pushing the sled when needed.

While one group is out dog sledding, the other visits the dog yard. Here you can meet the huskies and learn more about the dogs and life at the kennel. A warm meal and drink are also served before the groups swap activities.

Once both groups have completed the activities, you will return to Tromsø by bus.
