This is a daytrip to beautiful Vannøy,a place shaped by the sea, wind and tradition. It will be a content rich and exciting journey, as well as you feel the stillness, the freshness and the quiet calm of this island. And this is a tour where you get a chance to see this place through the eyes of someone who calls it home.

This tour is conducted by Arctic Glow.
We invite you to join us on this guided experience from Tromsø to Vannøya — an island far out on the edge of the Norwegian Sea, where we grew up. Life out here has always been shaped by the ocean: by the fish that come with the currents, the winds that shape the land, and the deep sense of freedom that comes from living between mountain peaks and open sea.
We'll leave the city behind and drive to Kvaløy and further to Ringvassøy before we take the ferry across the fjord to Vannøy, where dramatic mountains meet the open sea. Along the way, you'll see vast coastal landscapes — the sharp ridges of Vanntinden, the islands of Reinøy, Karlsøy, Helgøy and Nord-Kvaløy. You'll hear the sounds that define this place: waves, seabirds, and the quietand stillness that settles over you. And you'll feel the air — salt, seaweed, and something raw that stays with you.
The day will be content rich with several stops at different locations. We'll visit a traditional fishing village, share stories of coastal life, and go for a hike to a panoramic viewpoint over the Barents Sea. We'll end the day at a white-sand Arctic beach, where we gather around a warm meal and let the wind and sea set the rhythm, before we head back to Tromsø City.
This tour is not a checklist of sights. It's a glimpse into island life in the far north — and a day we hope you'll remember. Hopefully you will feel the stillness and the quiet calm this island and it’s raw nature offers.
