Fjord & History Cruise

This tour is operated by Hermes II.

Escape the bustle of the city and enjoy a peaceful 2.5-hour fjord cruise aboard Hermes II, a beautifully restored wooden vessel built in 1917. Sail from Tromsø harbour towards the nearby fjords and islands, surrounded by the beautiful Arctic coastal landscape.

As the boat makes its way through the waters around Tromsø, you can take in the views from the deck, explore the historic vessel or simply relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere on board.

During the cruise, your Norwegian- and English-speaking hosts share stories about Hermes II, the region's maritime heritage and the places you pass along the way. You'll also hear about the German battleship Tirpitz, which was sunk near Tromsø in 1944.

Keep an eye out for wildlife along the coast. White-tailed eagles and seals are often spotted in the area, and you may occasionally see reindeer. Wildlife sightings are less frequent from November to January and cannot be guaranteed.

A traditional Norwegian fish cake is served during the cruise, along with coffee, tea and hot toddy. You can enjoy the fresh Arctic air on deck or relax in the cosy, heated saloons. Warm blankets and thermal suits are available for extra comfort.

Meeting time and place: No later than 15 minutes before departure, beside Hermes II at pier 12 on the seaward side of Kystens Hus, Stortorget 1, 9008 Tromsø.
