Fjord Photo Tour

General information

This tour is operated by NorthernShots Tours.

Join a guided fjord and coastal tour from Tromsø and experience the landscapes of Kvaløya and the areas west of the city. Along the way, you will visit selected viewpoints, fjords, beaches and small coastal communities, depending on weather and road conditions.

Travel through valleys and fjords, past lakes, white sandy beaches and bridges, with plenty of opportunities to enjoy the Arctic scenery. Reindeer are sometimes seen along the route, and the guide may stop if conditions allow.

Minimum age: No minimum age. If your child requires a child seat, please contact NorthernShots Tours at least one week before departure.

Departure time and meeting point: Departure time varies by date. Please check the booking calendar and your confirmation for the correct time. Meet inside the NorthernShots Tours office at Roald Amundsens plass 1A, Tromsø.

Possible stops and experiences:

Below is an overview of possible stops and experiences during the tour. The tour normally visits 3–4 of these locations, depending on weather, road and driving conditions.

• Crossing the bridge to Kvaløya
• Possible stop if reindeer are spotted along the route
• Ersfjord – viewpoint
• Flexible stop along Kattfjordeidet
• Stop at one of the area's beaches with turquoise water, such as Sandneshamn, Sandviksletta or Sommarøy, depending on conditions
• Possible stop at the pier in Sjøtun, with views towards Kattfjord
• Possible stop at the end of the road on Hillesøy, with views towards the ocean
• Light lunch at the restaurant at Sommarøy Arctic Hotel or another suitable location
• Return to Tromsø

Alternative route:

In case of avalanche risk, road closures or if the guide considers it necessary, the tour may follow an alternative route. Possible stops may include:

• Håkøya and the area where the battleship Tirpitz was sunk
• Tysnes – viewpoint
• Hella – rock carvings
• Straumsbukta – traditional houses and coastal scenery

In case of severe weather in the region, NorthernShots Tours may offer an alternative route or work with another operator to provide an alternative tour.

Important information:

• The tour requires a minimum of 4 participants. If the minimum number is not reached, NorthernShots Tours may work with one of its partners offering a similar tour.
• If the tour cannot operate due to insufficient participants, or is cancelled due to poor weather conditions, you will receive a full refund.
• The tour normally operates with a maximum of 8 passengers per minivan. For larger groups, the tour may operate by coach with up to 20 passengers.
