Explore the magnificent world of glaciers on this guided glacier adventure.
General information
This tour is operated by Active Tromsø.
We will take you to the unique Steindalsbreen, a 10,000-year-old glacier located on the western side of Storfjord in the Lyngen Alps.
Glaciers are one of nature’s most impressive phenomena, and it is truly remarkable to walk on ice that was formed thousands of years ago. As the glacier has moved over time, it has created deep crevasses, valleys, ice formations, waterfalls and vivid blue meltwater pools – the variety of features found on the glacier is extraordinary.
Your specialised local guide will share their knowledge with you and ensure that you explore these natural wonders safely.
You have a long day ahead of you, so we recommend getting an early night before the tour and enjoying a good breakfast before departure.
The hike to the foot of the glacier takes approximately 2–2.5 hours and passes through idyllic mountain pastures, forests and rivers.
Before stepping onto Steindalsbreen, you will be equipped with the necessary specialist gear and receive a thorough safety briefing.
From there, your glacier adventure begins as you make your way across this majestic natural wonder.
