Health and emergencies
For medical emergencies and life-threatening illnesses or injuries, call 113.
In Norway, residents have a registered general practitioner (GP) in their home municipality. GPs do not normally offer drop-in appointments to people who are not registered patients. If you need medical assistance while travelling, you can contact Tromsø Emergency Clinic or book an appointment with a private GP, such as Dr.Dropin.
Tromsø Emergency Clinic
If you need medical assistance that cannot wait, call Tromsø Emergency Clinic on 116 117. The clinic is open 24 hours a day, but you must always call before attending.
Healthcare professionals will assess how urgently you need assistance, offer advice and tell you when and where to attend if necessary. Some conditions are treated during daytime hours only, while more urgent conditions are assessed around the clock.
You cannot contact or attend the A&E department at the University Hospital of North Norway (UNN) directly. Patients are referred there by healthcare professionals when necessary.
Tromsø Emergency Clinic is located at UNN, Sykehusvegen 30, 9019 Tromsø. Some map services require the postcode to find the correct location.

If you take regular or essential medication, we recommend bringing enough for your entire stay, along with any necessary documentation. Certain controlled medicines and medicines that are not available in Norway may require a prescription from a doctor in Norway.
