Join a historical walking tour in Tromsø and discover the city together with a local guide. The tour usually takes place in a small group of 4–8 participants.

General information

This tour is operated by Tromsø Budget Tours.

The tour covers the area within Tromsø's original city boundaries from 1794, from Strandtorget in the south to Skansen in the north. The area has seen human activity for centuries, long before Tromsø officially became a town. Your guide will share stories about the development that has shaped Tromsø, particularly over the past 230 years.

Along the way, you will encounter historical sites, statues, busts and murals connected to people who have played a role in Tromsø's history. These include well-known figures such as Roald Amundsen, as well as local personalities including Wanny Woldstad and Henry Rudi.

The walking tour also includes a guided visit to the Polar Museum, where you can learn more about Tromsø's polar history. The tour finishes at one of the city's older local establishments, reflecting Tromsø's maritime heritage.
