Drive your own dog sled at Breivikeidet, meet the huskies and enjoy hot drinks and cake on this winter tour from Tromsø.
General information
This tour is operated by Destination Tromsø.
Travel from Tromsø to Breivikeidet for a short dog sledding experience surrounded by Arctic scenery. After an approximately 50-minute bus journey, you will arrive at the husky camp, located in a valley close to the sea.
On arrival, you will receive a thermal suit, winter boots, a hat and mittens before your guide gives you a safety briefing and explains how to steer the sled.
Drive your own dog sled
Two guests share a sled, with one person driving and the other travelling as a passenger.
You will drive the sled for approximately 10–15 minutes before stopping for photos and changing places. The return journey takes another 10–15 minutes, giving both guests the opportunity to experience driving and riding on the sled.
The total dog sledding experience lasts approximately 30 minutes, depending on weather and trail conditions.
Meet the huskies
After the sled ride, spend some time with the huskies before heading inside to warm up.
Your guides will share more about the dogs while you enjoy hot drinks and cake. For larger groups, guests may be divided into two groups, alternating between dog sledding and time with the huskies.
After the experience, the bus takes you back to Tromsø.
