Welcome to the Arctic Caribbean! In the Tromsø region you will find a number of chalk-white beaches, turquoise seas, and refreshing swimming temperatures.
Beach life in Tromsø is an important part of the summer in the north. On hot summer days, many beaches are filled with locals and visitors. During the summer, Tromsø can also provide up to double-digit bathing temperatures. Temperatures varies depending on the location and recent weather, but it is usually between 7 and 13 degrees celsius in July and August. It is deliciously refreshing, and after a short time you get used to the temperature.
The possibilities are many, and some of the most popular beaches have parking and toilets. This includes favorites like Telegrafbukta on Tromsøya, Grøtfjord, Sandvika in Tromvik and Sandvika by Brensholmen. You should bring food and drinks with you since there isn't any shops by the beaches.
No matter where you travel, it is important to be considerate to the surroundings, nature and people you meet. Don't leave any rubbish behind, and preferably take with you a little extra rubbish if you find anything. Waste containers are located in several places. On Tromsø Municipality's outdoor map, you will find an overview of where you can find parking places, toilets and waste containers.
