Urban experiences meet raw Arctic nature
Lyngenfjord Hotel
Stay at Lyngenfjord Hotel in Skibotn, with views of the Lyngen Alps and easy access to Arctic activities and nature experiences.
General information
Welcome to Lyngenfjord Hotel, a family-run hotel in Skibotn, approximately two hours from Tromsø. Here, you stay surrounded by fjords and mountains, with views towards the Lyngen Alps and plenty of opportunities to experience nature, activities and local culture throughout the year.
Skibotn is known for its dry climate and relatively low precipitation. This can result in many clear nights and good conditions for seeing the Northern Lights when the weather and aurora activity are favourable.
Northern Lights experiences at the hotel
During the Northern Lights season, we invite you to our own Northern Lights camp by the hotel. Gather around the fire or step inside a traditional lavvu while you wait for the possibility of seeing the Northern Lights.
We also have reindeer at the hotel, and you may have the opportunity to meet and feed them as part of your stay.
Easy transport from Tromsø
You can travel between Tromsø and Lyngenfjord Hotel with Arctic Route, which stops at the hotel in Skibotn. The journey takes approximately two hours.
This makes it easy to combine a stay in Tromsø with a few nights with us without relying on a rental car.
Arctic activities and local culture
Throughout the winter season, we offer a range of activities and experiences in the area. You can take part in activities such as dog sledding, snowmobile tours, snowshoeing and whale watching.
You can also learn more about Sami culture and traditions through storytelling and experiences with reindeer.
Taste the North
At Sarvvis Restaurant, we serve seasonal dishes inspired by Northern Norwegian ingredients, local flavours and Sami food traditions. Here, you can enjoy a meal with views towards the Lyngen Alps.
Experience the area throughout the year
There is plenty to experience with us outside the winter season too. In spring, the days grow longer, while summer brings the midnight sun and opportunities for activities such as hiking, cycling, kayaking, fishing and boat trips.
In autumn, the landscape changes colour and the nights gradually become darker. When conditions are favourable, it may once again be possible to see the Northern Lights.
