Join a small-group northern lights chase from Tromsø, with professional photography guidance throughout the evening.

General information

This tour is operated by Marianne’s Heaven on Earth Aurora Chaser Tours.

I am Marianne, and both my guides and I are professional photographers. On this small-group northern lights chase from Tromsø, we combine our passion for the aurora with many years of photography experience.

Our guides specialise in natural and low-light photography, as well as landscapes, flora and fauna. Tours are kept small, with up to eight guests per minibus, allowing us to travel away from the main tourist trails. Everything you need to stay comfortable is provided, along with photography guidance to help you capture memorable images of the aurora.

Depending on the conditions, the route may take you within a 200 km radius, from the islands west of Tromsø to areas further north, south or east towards Finland or Sweden in search of clear skies and the northern lights.

Throughout the tour, you will receive night photography guidance to help you capture both the aurora and the surrounding Arctic landscape. Live updates on the auroral oval and interplanetary magnetic field conditions help us assess the conditions throughout the evening. To maximise the chances of seeing the northern lights, we stay in contact with weather forecasters until midnight, communicate with other aurora guides and maintain two-way radio contact with our sister groups.

To keep you warm and comfortable, hot drinks and a selection of light food are served during the tour, with some items prepared over an open fire. Vegetarian options are available on request. If you are allergic to dogs, please let us know in advance.

A memory card containing photos from the tour can be purchased for NOK 200. Please let your guide know at the start of the tour if you would like one.

With many years of experience and a strong passion for capturing the beauty of the northern lights and the night sky, the team has achieved an average success rate of 95% on aurora tours over the past 12 years. Our 4x4 vehicles are well suited to Arctic conditions.

About Marianne’s Heaven on Earth Aurora Chaser Tours

I am Marianne, a native of Tromvik, a small fishing village on the island of Kvaløya.


My family first settled here in the early 1700s. As long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by the Northern Lights and their mystery. I don’t feel at home unless I’m outside, under the stars or the midnight sun, planning a new photograph to fulfil my lifelong passion. A friend once suggested that I share the wonderful experiences I’ve enjoyed all my life. I’ve been fortunate to find guides who share my passion for photography and who have chased the aurora around the world.
