General information
Our Bascamps
Arctic Coast Camp – on the outer coast of Sommarøy
This camp is located right by the coast near Sommarøy and is run by a local host who has built the place using recycled materials and a love for Arctic coastal culture. Here you’ll be served a warm maritime meal from a local kitchen, and you can warm up with coffee, tea, or cocoa while waiting for the northern lights. The camp has indoor facilities and a toilet.
Aurora Base Camp – inland east of Tromsø
Inspired by Sámi building traditions, this camp is designed as a permanent lavvu (tent) with a glass roof and an indoor fire pit. Here you’ll be served a warm, traditional meal and hot drinks such as coffee, tea, or hot chocolate, and you can enjoy the tranquility between mountains and open plains. The camp has a toilet and is run by a local farmer who ensures the fire is burning, the snow is cleared, and everything is ready for our arrival.
