Northern Lights Tour with Local Guide and Photos

This tour is organized by Arctic Glow.

Together with an experienced driver, we leave the city lights behind and head out into the Arctic night in search of clear skies and the Northern Lights.

Travelling in a comfortable Mercedes Sprinter minibus with a small group allows us to adapt our route and respond to changing conditions throughout the evening. Along the way, you'll experience the changing Arctic landscape, quiet surroundings, and the special atmosphere of winter in Northern Norway.

The Experience:

Your evening begins in Tromsø city centre, where you'll meet your guide and driver before leaving the city behind and travelling into the Arctic landscape. Every tour is different, and the route is chosen based on the latest weather forecasts, cloud conditions, and aurora activity. Depending on the conditions, we may travel along the coast, into inland valleys, or across the border to Finland in search of the best possible skies.

The search itself is often an important part of the experience. As conditions change throughout the evening, we make stops along the way to observe the sky, evaluate the weather, and adapt our plans if needed.

Once we find suitable conditions, we settle into the Arctic surroundings and enjoy the evening together. To stay warm, you are welcome to step inside the heated minibus whenever needed, and thermal suits are available for guests who wish to use them. During the tour, we serve hot drinks — coffee, tea, and hot chocolate — alongside traditional Norwegian snacks and homemade cake baked fresh for every tour.

Whenever the Northern Lights appear, your guide will take portrait photos of guests who would like them, helping capture memories from the evening beneath the Arctic sky. We also photograph the Northern Lights and the surrounding landscape throughout the evening. Photos are edited and shared with you by email the following day — included in the tour at no extra cost.

Throughout the tour, your guide will share stories, local perspectives, and scientific insights about the Northern Lights and everyday life in Arctic Norway. At the end of the evening, we return to the same central Tromsø location where the tour started.

Please note:

• The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, and sightings cannot be guaranteed. Refunds are therefore not provided if the Northern Lights are not seen during the tour.
• The tour is not wheelchair accessible.
• Pets are not allowed.
• Alcohol is not permitted on the tour. For safety reasons and out of respect for fellow travellers, visibly intoxicated guests may be refused participation.
• The tour operates in most weather conditions. If we need to cancel due to weather or driving conditions, a full refund will be provided.
