At Yggdrasiltunet on Kvaløya, about 50 kilometres from Tromsø city centre, you can interact with a variety of animals and enjoy a substantial dose of fresh country air. The whole family can delight in close encounters with sheep, goats, horses, and chickens, while sampling homemade products such as jam, honey, and cheese.
At Svarvaren Gård, about 20 kilometres from Tromsø city centre, you’ll meet friendly sheep, rabbits, and hens – all curious and happy to greet new visitors. Join a guided tour of the farm, help feed the animals, and learn a bit about traditional Norwegian farm life. After spending time with your woolly and feathered hosts, you’ll gather around the fire for a hot drink and a light snack, while hearing stories about the history of the farm and what life is like for farmers today. In summer, you can also visit the vegetable garden and explore the season's fresh vegetables.
For animal lovers, it's also possible to visit one of the region's many dog yards for puppy cuddles and wagging tails. A sure winner, regardless of the season.
