About the experience:
Join us for a memorable overnight adventure just outside Tromsø, where comfort meets wilderness. From 15 December 2025 to 31 March 2026, we welcome you to our cosy husky camp – home to our retired sled dogs, playful puppies, and those enjoying a well-deserved rest.
Enjoy a peaceful evening in nature, far from city lights, with the chance to witness the magical northern lights dancing overhead.
This is a quiet and intimate overnight stay at our winter camp near Tromsø, where you’ll have your own private tent equipped with warm sleeping gear and reindeer hides for extra comfort. With just four tents available, each sleeping two guests (and space for a small child to share the double bed), the setting is exclusive and personal.
We gather around the open fireplace, enjoy hot chocolate and other warm drinks, and take time to relax, listen to the silence, and watch the flames flicker – and perhaps the sky, too.
You’ll meet some of our huskies – retired sled dogs, energetic puppies, or those simply enjoying a night off – and hear stories about life in the Arctic with them.
Highlights:
• Private Arctic camp: A peaceful and remote setting close to Tromsø, offering a night in nature without sacrificing comfort.
• Starry skies and aurora potential: Clear nights can bring spectacular stargazing and a chance to see the northern lights.
• Close connection with huskies: Spend time with the dogs who aren’t out sledding – get to know their personalities in a calm and cosy setting.
• Authentic Arctic atmosphere: Reindeer hides, open flames and traditional gear give you a glimpse into Arctic life.
• Active or relaxed: Choose between warming up in the sauna, exploring the area on snowshoes, or simply enjoying the fire and the night sky.

About Tromsø Aurora Husky
Tromsø Aurora Husky puts adventure and quality first. Only a handful of guests are allowed to visit our kennel. In this focus to deliver quality and create unique experiences for the guests who visit us, we serve local food, and all tents are handmade and hand-sewn by our Sami people. The dogsleds are handmade in Norway and Sweden, and we serve salted and dried meat that has won awards for Norway's best salted ham. The clothes I lend to guests are either made of leather or cotton.
We believe that our dogs get the best treatment by having fewer guests, allowing them to thrive in harmony with nature and the guests who visit us. Animal welfare is our most important factor in the kennel. Our season is based on three months during the winter in Tromsø, and in the summer, the dogs live on Norway's third-largest glacier, experiencing various adventures and destinations full of joy. When not traveling, they live on a peaceful mountain farm, where they can run freely together as a herd. This is important for their muscles, joints, and maintaining their pack mentality.
We only use Norwegian raw materials; here again, only the best quality is good enough. Nothing is more important than ensuring the dogs are well and live a varied everyday life, with the right balance between leisure and work, which they enjoy the most. I am one of the very few who travel with their dogs around the world to experience adventures together. I love nature, animals, and adventure—that's what I'm passionate about, and I want to share our everyday life and passion with our guests.
Everyone is welcome to join our tours. We drive up to 16 dogs per sled, allowing families to sit together, with the option for one person to steer the sled themselves. This is very unique. Each team gets a guide on the sled, ensuring the dogs are guided safely through the landscape, while also feeling the power of a large team.
If you have mobility challenges, please let us know, and we will adapt the experience for everyone.
On every trip, a hot meal is provided. Please inform us if you require a vegetarian or vegan option. Hot drinks such as coffee, cocoa, or tea are available. We also serve salted and dried meat from one of Norway's best raw materials. We have handpicked warm clothes and shoes for our guests, made from quality materials. There is no age limit for our trips, but please bring the necessary equipment for transporting infants and children. Transport to and from the center of Tromsø is included.
