Our fishing guide will take you to the scenic shoreline of Kvaløya. The trip is suitable for both beginners and experienced anglers, regardless of your previous fishing experience.

General information

Enjoy a day of shore fishing surrounded by Arctic nature, with a knowledgeable fishing guide and lunch included.

Your guide will share fishing techniques and local knowledge, take you to suitable fishing spots and help you target your preferred species. Whether you are hoping for a trophy catch or simply looking for a relaxing day by the water, the experience can be tailored to your preferences.

About the trip

The fishing location is chosen according to the weather conditions and the species you would like to target.

The experience begins with an introduction to the equipment and fishing techniques. Lunch featuring local specialities is included, together with coffee, tea and a traditional dessert from the area.

Enjoy the surrounding scenery while your guide shares local history and knowledge.

The trip can be customised to suit you and your group, including pick-up time and location, as well as any special requests.

Fish species and equipment

The most common species in the area is cod. Other species targeted include halibut, wolffish and plaice. You are welcome to let the guide know which species you would like to target.

All necessary fishing equipment and clothing are included. Thermal suits, boots, hats and gloves are provided to help you dress appropriately for the conditions.

Minimum age: No minimum age. If your child requires a child seat, please contact the operator at least one week before departure.

About Explore the Arctic

We are a small adventure company with 20 years of experience in organising outdoor activities on Kvaløya and in the Tromsø area.


Over the years, we have developed and improved our tours, with an increasing focus on quality and personal service. Our experience and knowledge of the area help ensure memorable Arctic experiences.



During our tours, guests learn about the area, its history and wildlife. We provide high-quality clothing and all the necessary equipment. We also make an effort to visit good locations for photography, and any photos we take during the tour are included.



Since the beginning, we have focused on giving something back to our small community by involving local people and small businesses in what we do.



Being in nature is our passion, while photographing wildlife and spectacular natural phenomena is what drives us. Without this beautiful natural environment, we would not be able to do what we do. During our tours, we therefore share the importance of respecting and protecting our surroundings.
